Job Description:

Under the general direction of the Permitting and Planning Manager, and with minimum supervision, the successful Permitting and Report Writing Support candidate will act as onsite permitting and report writing support in collaboration with other site representatives. The Permitting and Report writer will be responsible for tracking and maintaining the Permit Aspect Register and provide report writing support to ensure the Site C Clean Energy Project is in compliance with the environmental approvals (Licences, permits, authorizations, etc.) and/ or environmental protection plans (EPPs).

Responsibilities
-  Provide support in managing and maintaining the permit aspect register
-  Provide support in managing and maintaining the permit conditions register
-  Monitor and download new permits from BC Hydro Online Extranet database
-  Provide support to onsite Environmental Permitting and Reporting Coordinator as required.
-  Participate in safety and environmental training as required by corporate policy
-  Prepare annual compliance reports for BC Hydro and appropriate agencies.
-  Provide writing support to the technical writers for Environmental Protection Plans (EPP’s) and environmental compliance reports.
-  Ability to liaise with BC Hydro and assess priorities in conjunction with BC Hydro
-  Manage and perform multi day-to-day functions, including a large variety of work functions with many ongoing multi-tasking assignments at one time.
-  Ability to provide support in conducting water sampling / monitoring as needed.
-  Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-  Creative, organized, self motivated and capable of achieving broadly defined objectives.
-  Ability to handle confidential data with discretion.
-  Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Offices and excel
-  Ability to deliver high quality documentation
-  Ability to quickly grasp safety concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
-  Advanced written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences;
-  Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels, Aboriginal and First Nation community representatives, and other stakeholders and participants.

Experience and Qualifications
-  A degree in Environmental Studies and related disciplines from an institute of recognized standing
-  Ability to obtain professional designation (I.e. R.P. Bio)
-  Minimum of 5 years technical writing experience
-  Proven work experience in acquiring federal and provincial permits.
-  Possess a valid Province of BC Driver's Licence with appropriate class
-  Possess mature judgment; ability to succeed with minimal supervision both independently and as a team member in an active construction environment.
-  Must be willing to work 2-1 rotation schedule on a camp.
