Position Summary:
The Communications Manager for PHRP will work directly with the senior managers of the Project in developing and deploying internal and external messaging for a dynamic hydro project located in Fort St John.

The Communications Manager prepares a variety of communications products and services, supporting the strategic objectives of Peace River Hydro Partners. This position will handle web, social media and internal communication requests for the company. It includes issues management and media relations; internal communications and graphics; as well as industry and government relations. This individual will be responsible for all project communications including, but not limited to, developing strategic public relations campaigns, and managing corporate events.

Responsibilities
-  Support the development of project communications strategies and the implementation of those strategies (internal and external) to ensure the success of identified initiatives.
-  Research, draft and post internal communications content through channels including email, portal/intranet, group collaboration sites, and digital signage.
-  Represent the company at partner events (e.g. town halls, job fairs, committee meetings)
-  Writing scripts for speeches and keynote presentations.
-  Develop and maintain connectivity and strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders as well as external project organizations.
-  Demonstrate best practices in corporate communications approaches, vehicles, strategies and tactics.
-  Demonstrate success in understanding the needs and sensitivities of different audiences and adapting appropriate writing style and content.
-  Lead and drive activities to support ongoing alignment and collaboration between other marketing and communications teams with joint partners during the annual planning process.
-  Develop and plan communications programs which increase brand presence and market penetration.
-  Ensuring adherence to brand identity in firm communications internally and externally.
-  Creating and managing content for external tools such as websites, videos, publications and social media.
-  Creating media materials including media releases, pitches, key message documents, fact sheets, articles, Q&A’s and other correspondence.
-  Managing reactive calls from the media.
-  Manage the company’s ongoing community investment and sponsorship efforts. 
-  Support a variety of corporate initiatives within tight timelines.
-  Ensures the company is responsive to emerging issues and trends by monitoring news servies and current events.

Job Requirements:

Experience/Qualifications:
-  The preferred candidate for this role should have an undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a post-graduate specialization along with 5 to 7 years of experience, preferably in corporate communications. Preference will be given to those with experience in large infrastructure projects or other large corporate environments.
-  Demonstrated ability in media relations and/or issues management
-  The candidate will possess exceptional written and verbal communications skills, and have media relations, public relations and social media experience. The candidate is a creative thinker who will bring fun, innovative ideas and an understanding of how to use different communications approaches to engage different audiences.
-  The candidate will have experience in working with all levels of staff, including senior decision makers both internally and externally.  The candidate will possess the ability to effectively influence/communicate activities that align with PRHP’s business goals.
-  Demonstrated understanding of client requirements and the ability to form mutually beneficial relationships with external stakeholders.
-  The ability to work effectively in a matrix and relationship driven organization.
