Salary $54,310.10 - $71,507.64 annually (Growth)

This posting will be used to fill upcoming permanent vacancies for Child Protection Workers in the following rural or remote locations: Burns Lake, Chetwynd, Dease Lake, Fort Nelson, Fort St James, Hazelton, Kitimat, Lillooet, Port Hardy, Prince Rupert, Queen Charlotte, Terrace, Vanderhoof, Williams Lake
 
7 on and 7 off shift: This position will work on a travelling schedule working seven (7) days in the office (communities listed in the job posting), followed by seven (7) days of rest at their home location (home location is defined as your usual place of residence).
 
The Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) promotes and develops the capacity of families and communities to care for and protect vulnerable children and youth, and supports healthy child and family development to maximize the potential of every child in B.C. The Ministry is responsible for regional and province-wide delivery of services and programs that support positive and healthy outcomes for children, youth and their families.
 

Dedicated ministry social workers make a positive difference in the lives of thousands of children and families in B.C. Each year, ministry services reach about 155,000 children and families, representing approximately 17 per cent of all B.C. children and youth. These are some of the most vulnerable children in B.C., often facing a range of complex challenges.
 

Job Requirements:

Qualifications for these roles include:

  • Bachelor or Master of Social Work, or Bachelor or Master of Child and Youth Care; OR
  • Master of Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare. Completion of a practicum in family and child welfare occurs in an agency/organization where a student had the opportunity to practice assessing the needs of children and families in order to develop and provide intervention services to the children and/or families.
  • Related degree, or related post-graduate diploma, or related post-graduate certificate in a human services field PLUS a minimum of two years of post-degree *related experience. Related education includes Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Theology, Indigenous Studies, Education, or Nursing. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
