Reporting to the Superintendent, the Nozzleman/shotcrete operator is responsible for receiving, management and replacement of shotcrete in the underground tunnels at Site C.

Location:             7007 269 Road, Fort St. John, BC V1J 4M7
Salary:                  $42.52 /hr, plus overtime, as per collective agreement
Term:                   Full time, term to October 31, 2019
Hours:                  12 hours/day, 14/7 rotation
Benefits:              MSP, extended health, dental, AD&D, life insurance, RSP contribution, pension matching, room and board onsite at camp facilities, as per collective agreement
Vacation:           Vacation/Statutory Holiday pay are paid at a rate of 10.4%

Responsibilities
  • Move materials on a construction site
  • Mix, spray, run hoses, and operate shotcrete or grouting pumps
  • Reading and determining measurements
  • Monitoring and minor maintenance of equipment
  • Monitor for and report on shotcrete quality compliance
  • Ensure a clean and organized construction site
  • Working together in a team environment
  • Ensure all equipment is accounted for daily
  • Ensure sufficient supplies are gathered for the day
  • Maintenance and care of all assigned equipment
  • Complete all necessary paperwork
  • Active participation in all safety/tailgate meetings
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to/comfortable with working at heights & in and underground environment
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic
  • Must be physically fit and able to work in remote camp locations
  • Must possess decision making and problem-solving skills by analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Must be able to work access/board equipment in areas with uneven ground or snow or soft-ground/surface water
  • Coordinating the Work and Activities of Others — getting members of a group to work together to accomplish tasks
  • Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationships — developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time
Experience/ Qualifications

•         2 years of experience as a nozzleman/shotcrete operator
•         Valid ACI or EFNARC certification or equivalent
•         Experience working in tunnels or mines
•         Prior construction industry experience as a carpenter or framer for example is an asset
•         Any prior soil stabilization, grouting, or foundation mitigation experience

Working Conditions
  • Must be physically fit and able to work in remote camp locations
  • Must be willing to work 12 hour shifts, day and night
  • Must be able to work in an underground/ confined space environment
Please Note: This is a site-based position located at the Site C Dam in Fort St. John, British Columbia. Preference will be given to qualified, local candidates. However, we will also consider fly in/out candidates based out of Vancouver, Nanaimo, Kelowna, Calgary, or Edmonton. Rotational employees are required to work a 14/7 rotation; flights and camp accommodations are provided while on shift.
