Company Information
The Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society is a not-for-profit organization that has been serving the N.E. of rural BC for 40 years. The Society operates a 12-unit, 2nd stage non-profit transitional housing for women and children leaving abusive relationships called Skye’s Place. In addition, we operate a Resource Centre which offers structured programs and services that are directed towards resolving problems faced by women leaving abusive relationships and by persons of low income, in addition to providing clients with the necessities of life such as food, clothing and other basic amenities.
Structured programs and services include the Poverty Law Program, Family Law Program, Outreach and Drop-in services that support clients including accessing free advocacy, representation, and assistance to low-income clients.
Our Drop-In Center and Outreach provides crisis and planning support, referrals, and information in areas such as counselling, housing, training, health, addictions, domestic violence, disability, legal and other support. Clients can also access harm reduction supplies here including Naloxone kits, HIV/HCV information and support, and we can test substances for the presence of Fentanyl. We effectively provide inclusive and non-judgmental wrap around services for our clients.
