About the Position

This position is responsible for the timely and accurate inspection of drill pipe. This position also supervises assigned crew, ensuring safety first, as well as maintaining client relationships.

Your Duties

  • Conducts Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections to ensure quality and to detect discontinuities (defects)
  • Organize and report results of assigned inspection work as well as maintain detailed records of work performed
  • Complete inspections using Magnetic Particle Testing, Liquid Penetrant Testing, Ultrasonic Inspection, Electromagnetic Inspection (EMI), Visual Thread and Seal, Dimensional Measurements and Thread Gauging
  • Set up, maintain / repair, and calibrate hand tools, plant equipment, inspection, and testing equipment as needed
  • Operate stationary & portable EMI units for drill pipe inspection; responsible for leading a crew of up to 6 people
  • Complies with Force Inspection’s Health & Safety program and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

Your Qualifications

  • High school diploma / GED
  • 3 years of related NDT inspection experience is required, with a minimum of 1 year in BHA Inspection
  • Basic math and functional verbal / written English skills
  • Minimum valid Class 5 Alberta Driver Licenses (Non-GDL), plus experience driving with a trailer will be an asset
  • Physically able to handle weight up to 40 lbs, and must be able to distinguish colours
  • Visual Thread Inspection of Rotary Shoulder Connections experience
  • Experience in B.S.L Lathe Refacer
  • Must have Oilfield Downhole Tool experience, proficient in BHA components and tubulars
  • API Spec 7 thread gauging and knowledge on API RP7G-2, 5CT, 5B, Spec. 7-1 / 7-2 are considered assets
  • May require work in hazardous environments requiring protective equipment, and extreme temperatures
  • Manual dexterity required to use measuring instruments & tools
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends, in a fast-paced environment
