Public Relations Coordinator

Help share the joy and impact of Special Olympics BC in your community. As the Public Relations Coordinator, you'll lead local communications and promotion efforts to raise awareness, celebrate athletes and volunteers, and inspire others to get involved.

This volunteer leadership role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, creativity, and an interest in storytelling, social media, or community engagement. You'll work with Local Committee members, coaches, athletes, and provincial staff to coordinate media outreach, manage local communications channels, promote events, and ensure Special Olympics BC branding is used consistently.

• The SOBC - Fort St. John Local Committee meets once/month, usually taking a break throughout the summer. Duties required of the role are mostly completed remotely and when your schedule allows it. Hours per week can vary based on the season, but expect 1-2 hours on average. The Local Committee and SOBC staff can support during times when you have conflicting commitments.
• You will have the opportunity to discuss your availability during your onboarding, and supported with role training by the SOBC - Fort St. John Local Coordinator and SOBC Provincial Office staff.
• The PR Coordinator is voted into a one year term.
