SHORT TERM POSITION STARTING APPROXIMATELY MIDDLE OF APRIL for around 3-5 weeks (depending on scope of work)
Job Description:
We are seeking welders on a short-term basis to work on the Taylor Bridge Spring Repair Program. The successful applicant will be responsible for the grinding and welding of cracks in the bridge decking of the Taylor Bridge, as well as the replacement of bridge panels as identified by Dawson Road Maintenance. You will be working from a company provided welding truck. Previous experience on the Taylor Bridge Repair Program is highly desirable. This job will commence middle of April and will run for a duration of approximately 3-5 weeks depending of scope of work.
***Must be available to work OVERNIGHT 10-hour shifts Monday to Friday***
Job Requirements:
As a Portable Welder at the Taylor Bridge, you will be responsible for the initial marking out of deficient/cracked welds, grinding out of those marked area’s and finally the completion of button-style welding as per the provided weld procedure and instruction by the Dawson Road Maintenance Supervisor;
- Ability to work, stand or walk for extended periods of time on various surfaces
- Ability to bend, stoop, crouch and kneel for extended periods of time to carry out your duties as a welder on the Taylor Bridge
- Willing to work outside in a variety of weather conditions (hot conditions, cold conditions, windy conditions)
- Ability to work an afternoon shift (5:30pm – 3:00am)
- Ability to use electrical hand tools (predominately small grinder for grinding out cracks in bridge deck)
- Ability to follow safe work policies and procedures
- Follow a welding procedure
- Maintain a safe and clean work space
- Problem-solving abilities
- Maintain and update online company training and safety documentation (to be completed prior to project commencing)
- Ability to multi-task
- Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills
- Effective organizational, stress and time management skills
- Respectfully able to work with all types of people with different personalities, cultures, and customs
WAGE:
$25.00 - $40.00 per hour BASED ON EXPERIENCE + $3.00 per hour field allowance
Qualifications
- CWB – SMAW Certified Welder (1G Position)
- High School Diploma or GED Planning and organizational skills
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Fluent in English
