Workshops
Employment Connections North Corp. offers a variety of free workshops to meet your employment needs. Whether you need to learn the skills to get hired, need assistance exploring options, or want to simply work on the basics, we have the workshop for you. As everyone has a different approach to learning, we offer workshops face-to-face or virtually to best suit your needs!
Pathways
Pathways is a 12-week, full-time employment training program that includes training, job search supports, industry-specific certifications, work clothing and hiring incentives for employment. Participants may be eligible for a $300 per week living stipend!
Who can apply?
Candidates must be:
- 16 years of age or older.
- Reside in Fort St. John or the surrounding area.
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or protected person legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Participants must identify two or more challenges such as housing instability, lack of work experience or Canadian work experience, lack of a support network, justice involvement, mental health and/or addiction challenges, literacy challenges, low self-esteem, low income, or identify as a youth at risk, older worker or survivor of violence and abuse.

LIT – Learn, Innovate, Transform
LIT is an 8-week, full-time employment training program that includes training, job search supports, industry-specific certifications, work clothing and incentives for employment or training. Participants may be eligible for a $350 per week living stipend!
Who can apply?
Candidates must be:
- Between 16 and 29 years of age.
- Reside in Fort St. John or the surrounding area.
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or protected person legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Not receiving duplicative financial supports from another provincially or federally funded labour market program
- Unemployed or Precariously Employed
- May or may not be actively working towards a high school diploma
- Is not Employment Ready
Barriers to employment may include:
- Lacks “soft skills” (such as appropriate workplace behaviors, interpersonal and communication skills, etc.)
- Lacks work experience
- Lacks occupational skills
- Lacks networking skills and opportunities
- Housing instability
- Criminal justice involvement
- Incomplete high school education
- History of addictions or substance abuse
- Diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health illness(es) or challenges
- Former/current Youth in Care

The Landing Place
Community‑Based Employment Services (CBES) – Fort St. John
A supportive place to connect, find stability, and move toward work — at your pace.
Community‑Based Employment Services (CBES) is a voluntary, low‑barrier program for adults in Fort St. John who are facing challenges that can make employment difficult right now. This can include housing instability, mental health challenges, substance use, or feeling disconnected from supports. CBES is different from traditional employment programs — there is no requirement to be job‑ready. The focus is on meeting you where you’re at and offering support that feels realistic, respectful, and responsive to your needs.
Delivered by Employment Connections North Corp., CBES is provided through outreach, drop‑in, and community‑based locations in partnership with local and Indigenous‑led organizations. You can participate one‑to‑one or in small groups and choose what your involvement looks like. Support may include life and employment readiness skills, short‑term training or certifications, work experience, or help navigating next steps. You can join at any time, pause when life gets in the way, and return when you’re ready — progress does not have to be linear.
What you can expect

- Help with life skills, employment readiness, and next steps toward work or training
- Peer‑supported and culturally responsive spaces

Who can participate
You may be eligible if you:
- Are 18 years or older
- Are legally eligible to work in Canada
- Are experiencing one or more barriers to employment related to
housing instability, substance use, and/or mental health challenges
CBES is about meeting you where you are — and supporting you to move forward, one step at a time, in a way that feels respectful, realistic, and supportive.

Work Personality Index (WPI)
The WPI Select Report is designed to help guide personnel selection decisions. Measuring 17 personality traits, the Select Report provides a comprehensive assessment of candidates’ work personalities.

Matching people with positions has never been easier. This convenient and flexible system allows you to customize the WPI for different occupations in your organization.
Test of Workplace Essential Skills (TOWES)
The Test of Workplace Essential Skills (TOWES) assessment measures three important Essential Skills; reading text, document use, and numeracy. TOWES assesses how skills are applied to solve problems or complete tasks. Results will indicate if current skills can be applied to complete basic, intermediate, or advanced workplace tasks.
Personality Dimensions
Personality Dimensions® is based on a foundation of solid research; it gives you a better understanding of yourself, your strengths, values, needs, and how you perceive the world. But it is not just about ourselves; it is also about knowing how to appreciate and respect differences by recognizing the contributions and strengths everyone brings with them.
Personality Dimensions in the workplace workshops can include:
- Conflict Management, Leadership Development, Team Building, Work/Life Balance
- Career Dimensions focuses on your work preferences. This assessment helps you explore various work environments in which you are most comfortable by examining various areas, including the natural talents you bring to work, your values, major job stressors, work philosophy, and definition of success.
