Boreal Gardens is a boutique experimental permaculture farm that started in 2016. Currently there are two acres of vegetables and berries planted on 4.5 acres within the natural forest. New in 2021 is the creation of a one acre orchard.
The project includes applying indigenous ecosystems within the natural system to grow food year round.
Our passion is to build a sustainable farm using permaculture practices and traditional knowledge
Currently the property has 13 Hügelkulturs’ built along with raised garden beds including spiral gardens, pyramid gardens, and seeds planted in the forest.
Our goal is to bring together Indigenous approaches to agriculture by working with what exists within permaculture design that mimics patterns found in nature. This method is a conscious way to connect and maintain food production systems that have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural seasons.
