Description

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Bookkeeper will be responsible for all financial services of the programs operating within the Friendship Centre. General computerized bookkeeping such as financial documentation of programs and projects, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, journal entries, GL postings, preparation of trial balances and monthly financial statements, related tasks such as T4’s, ROE tax remittance, correspondence, and budget control. To work cooperatively with all Centre staff and programs.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The experienced Bookkeeper will be responsible for the financial records; proper accounting procedure and practice are followed to ensure effective financial accountability for all Society funds.
  • Prepare all payments required by the Society and ensure all incomes are correctly recorded subject to Executive Directors approval.
  • Assist the Executive Director in implementation of the budget and budget forecast for all Society projects including capital.
  • Make recommendations for the disbursements of the Society’s funds, payments of accounts, and other financial duties.
  • Prepare monthly general ledger reports for the Board of Directors, which shall include records of all accounts and account balances.
  • Prepare financial reports pertaining to Ministry contracts.
  • All purchases recorded on a purchase order system and authorized by the Executive Director.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality concerning Friendship Society’s financial affairs.
  • Ensure proper recording to all financial transactions such as but not limited to transferring money between accounts under the direction of the Executive Director.
  • Report any deviance in budget to the Executive Director immediately and authority to report financial accounts of issues to the Treasurer of the Board and other duties assigned by the Executive Director

Qualifications

Must abide by the Fort Nelson Aboriginal Friendship Society’s Code of Ethics.

  • Must meet Criminal Records Check Criteria
  • Must be proficient in Simply Accounting Program
  • Must have a great deal of knowledge regarding Accounting Practices.
  • A valid BC driver’s license
